Not all words are equal. Some words you’ll hear every day, others only rarely. By focusing on the most common Arabic words first, you’ll get a huge head-start in comprehension.
In fact, the first 1,000 most frequent Arabic words account for roughly two-thirds of the words in typical texts, and the top 2,000 words cover nearly 80% . That means by mastering just a couple thousand high-frequency words, you can understand the bulk of everyday conversations and writings.
Research also shows high-frequency words tend to be learned faster and remembered longer than low-frequency ones , since you encounter them more often.
So, study smart: prioritize core vocabulary that will give you the most mileage in daily use before diving into niche terminology.
